Jayananda A Kotri, 30, BangaloreCycling as passion:I still remember my struggle in trying to learn riding an adult sized bicycle as a young kid of about 6-7 years and then the joy when I managed to get a bicycle of my size and suddenly I could ride it with ease, I could go places faster than I ever thought possible. Surprisingly it still is one of the fastest ways to get around in Bangalore! I fell in love with cycling as a kid and continue to enjoy it and will possibly enjoy it forever. This drove me to team up with like minded friends to design and build new forms of sustainable forms of transport. Currently we are trying to build a comfortable commuter trike. About GMC:GMC 2010 was one of the best experiences in my life, an amazing event organised by TandemTrails with great passion, I really enjoyed every moment. Like the previous time I am looking forward to exploring some of the most beautiful places in Karnataka in the most enjoyable means of transport. In short "Get in shape...get on a bike". About GMC:My first time in an event like GMC and the thought that we will be riding about 800 Kilometers in 9 days in itself is an hair raising feeling. The first time I read about the GMC 2010 event and browsing through pictures was the startpoint to register myself for this enduring and exhilarating ride. "Unless you push yourself, how do you know what you are capable of?" is an important line to me (This has to be done with complete awareness of self and sometimes supervision). Since July '11, there have been practice rides, acquaintance with new faces, organisers and exploration of routes which has been a fantastic experience. While driving is too fast and trekking is too slow to see different places, I found cycling has the right pace to get engaged with places you visit. Mountain ranges, think forests, highest peak in state, religious places, tourist attractions and finally the quite beach.
